Purpose

Step 1

- To become knowledgeable about Gothic Literature

- To be able to write the synopsis of an original Gothic story incorporating the main ingredients of Gothic Literature

- To become aware of the evolution of Gothic Literature

- To become knowledgeable about The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe

Step 2

- To become knowledgeable about Tales of Poe by film director Bart Mastronardi

- To be able to compare Poe's short story with Bart Mastronardi's cinematic adaptation

- To become knowledgeable about a great variety of cinematic techniques

- To be able to work in teams to take part in a complex project.

- To be able to invent the synopsis of a horror short film inspired by Poe's Tell-Tale Heart and Bart Mastronardi's adaptation, to write the script and the story board and to shoot and edit the film.

- To be able to present personal work to an audience.

- To be able to use professional gear to shoot a short film and sophisticated cinematic software to edit it.

About Bart Mastronardi

Bart Mastronardi is an American director, screenwriter, cinematographer and producer. He resides in Los Angeles, teaching Camera, Lighting, and Director's craft at the prestigious New York Film Academy.

His debut feature Vindication garnered accolades from magazines such as Fangoria Magazine and awards at various international film festivals.

Tales of Poe has been awarded several times and Bart Mastronardi and Allan Rowe Kelly won the prize of best directors at the Chicago Horror Film Festival in October 2016.
