Final Task, Process and Evaluation (Part 1)

FINAL TASK Group work
The last outcome of this project consists in creating a Gothic short film inspired from The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe and its cinematic adaptation by film director Bart Mastronardi.

It will be your job, over the next weeks, to invent the synopsis of your film, write the script and the storyboard and shoot and edit your film.
You will also have to prepare an oral presentation of your work.

PROCESS

STEP ONE
LEARN more about American and British Gothic Literature.

Task 1 Think, pair, share
Watch the trailer of Tales of Poe and say what it evokes : plot, characters, places, feelings, sensations, etc.

Task 2  Individual work
Learn more about Edgar Allen Poe

Task 3 Group work
Webquest about Gothic Literature

Task 4 (Evaluated) Group work
Thanks to what you learnt about Gothic Literature, imagine the synopsis of a Gothic story including all of the elements of  Gothic literature: setting, characters, plot, atmosphere, etc.

Task 5 Think, pair, share
Read and understand The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe.
Focus on the following points : Characters (who are they? What do you learn about them?), plot summary (see exercise), main themes, lexical fields and their meanings, figure of speech and literary device and their impact.

Task 6 (Evaluated) Individual work
Use your notes and the findings you shared with your classmates to write a reading report about the short-story (Q5, 7, 8, 9 and 10)
